How The Personal Development Market Fits The Wellness Economy

The Global Wellness Institute measured the wellness economy at $6.8 trillion in 2024, up 7.9% from 2023.

Mental wellness reached $268.3 billion in 2024 and grew 12.4% annually from 2019 to 2024, second only to wellness real estate. GWI projects 10.1% annual growth for mental wellness through 2029. The US mental wellness market is worth $125 billion, with China second at $16 billion.

Workplace wellness was the only one of the 11 sectors to shrink, down 1.5% from 2023 to 2024. GWI attributes the decline to employers moving away from programmatic wellness and to more workers in remote and gig roles without access to benefits.
