Day & Zimmermann was established in 1901 when Charles Day, a young engineer, joined in a consulting partnership with Kern Dodge. The firm is called Dodge & Day.
In 1907, John Zimmerman joined as a partner, and the company was renamed Dodge, Day & Zimmermann.
In 1916, Dodge, Day & Zimmermann was renamed Day & Zimmermann after Kern Dodge left as a partner in 1911.
In 1961, Day & Zimmermann merged with Yoh Company.
