   National Grid plc is a multinational electricity and gas utility company headquartered in London, England, the United Kingdom.

HISTORY


   The National Grid was established in 1935 in the UK.

   In 1990, the transmission activities of the Central Electricity Generating Board, covering England and Wales, were transferred to the National Grid Company plc.

   In 1995, the company was listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE).

   In 2000, National entered the US, acquiring the New England Electric System and Eastern Utilities Associates.
