   Nippon Steel Corporation is a Japanese manufacturer of steel products headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan.

HISTORY


   Nippon Steel was formed in 2012 when the old Nippon Steel merged with Sumitomo Metal Industries and created a new company called Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation.

   The old Nippon Steel was created in 1970 by the merger of Yawata Iron & Steel and Fuji Iron & Steel.

   In 2019, Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation changed its name to Nippon Steel Corporation.

OPERATIONS


   The company operates through the following steelmaking businesses: Plate, Flat Products, Bar & Wire Rod, Construction Products, Pipe & Tube, Railway, Automotive & Machinery Pars, Titanium, and Stainless Steel.

Plate

   The Plate segment provides steel plates for large industrial and social structures such as ships, bridges, high-rise buildings, marine structures for oil and gas extraction, and high-performance steel plates used for tanks and other energy-related products.

Flat Products

   The Flat Products segment delivers steel sheets used to make automobiles, electrical appliances, housing, beverage cans, transformers, and other goods.

Bar & Wire Rod

   The Bar & Wire Rod segment provides bars and rods to a wide range of industries, including the automotive, construction, and industrial machinery industries.

Construction Products

   The Construction Products segment offers H-beams, steel sheet piles, steel pipe piles, rails, and other steel materials.

Pipe & Tube

   The Pipe & Tube segment offers high-end seamless pipes used in oil and gas development and other energy areas.

Railway, Automotive & Machinery Pars

   The Railway, Automotive & Machinery Pars segment focuses on railway wheels, axles, and crankshafts.

Titanium

   The Titanium segment provides titanium products for construction, aviation, general industrial, and consumer-related applications.

Stainless Steel

   The Stainless Steel segment covers a wide range of stainless steel products that includes steel plates, sheets, bars, and wire rods.
