HISTORY


   Nomura was established in 1925 under the name of Nomura Securities Co., Ltd., as a spin-off from the Securities Dept. of Osaka Nomura Bank Co., Ltd. (the present-day Resona Bank).

   In 1961, the company was listed on the Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya stock exchanges.

   In 2001, the company was reorganized into a holding company, and the functions of Nomura Holdings, Inc. and Nomura Securities Co., Ltd. were split.

   In 2001, Nomura listed its shares on the New York Stock Exchange in the form of American Depositary Receipts.

   In 2008, parts of Lehman Brothers’ business operations in Asia-Pacific, EMEA, and the service platform in India were acquired.

   In 2020, Greentech Capital Advisors was acquired and rebranded as Nomura Greentech.
