   Raytheon Technologies Corporation is a multinational conglomerate headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts, United States.

HISTORY


 Raytheon Technologies was formed in 2020 through the merger of the Raytheon Company with United Technologies Corporation (UTC).

Raytheon Company

   The Raytheon Company was founded in 1922 by Laurence K. Marshall, Vannevar Bush, and Charles G. Smith as the American Appliance Company.

United Technologies Corporation

   United Technologies Corporation was formed in 1934 as United Aircraft Corporation, from the portions of United Aircraft and Transport east of the Mississippi River (Pratt & Whitney, Sikorsky, Vought, and Hamilton Standard Propeller Company) with Frederick Rentschler, founder of Pratt & Whitney. United Aircraft Corporation changed its name to United Technologies Corporation in 1975.

   United Aircraft and Transport Corporation was a company that united business interests in all aspects of aviation – a combination of aircraft engine and airframe manufacturing and airline business. It was founded in 1929 by William Boeing of the Boeing firms and Frederick Rentschler of Pratt & Whitney.

   The company operates through four subsidiaries: Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, Raytheon Intelligence & Space, and Raytheon Missiles & Defense.

Collins Aerospace

   Collins Aerospace specializes in aerostructures, avionics, interiors, mechanical systems, mission systems, and power and control systems.

Pratt & Whitney

   Pratt & Whitney designs, manufactures and services the world’s most advanced aircraft engines and auxiliary power systems for commercial, military, and business aircraft.

Raytheon Intelligence & Space

   Raytheon Intelligence & Space develops advanced sensors, training, and cyber and software solutions.

Raytheon Missiles & Defense

   The Raytheon Missiles & Defense segment produces air and missile defense systems, precision weapons, radars, and command and control systems. It also delivers end-to-end solutions to detect, track and engage threats.


   With more than 243,000 employees, Raytheon Technologies Corporation is considered one of the largest aerospace and defense manufacturers in the world. According to Forbes, it is considered one of the Largest Public Companies in the World.
