Reading Instagram Age Demographics: Ad Reach Is Not a Headcount
Instagram crossed 3 billion monthly active users in September 2025, according to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Meta does not publish an age split for that figure.
Age shares come from Meta’s ad tools instead. DataReportal warns these counts can include duplicate accounts and non-human profiles such as brands and pets.
Survey data adds a third lens. In GWI’s Q4 2025 survey of more than 240,000 internet users aged 16+, 54.6% said they used Instagram in the past month, rising to 71.4% when China and Russia are excluded.

Ad tools also exclude most under-18 data, so global age tables start at 18. More context on the parent company sits in this Meta company profile.
