CDW Corporation is a multi-brand provider of information technology solutions headquartered in Lincolnshire, Illinois, United States. It provides its technology products and services to business, government, education and healthcare customers in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada.
CDW was originally established in 1984 as MPK Computing by Michael Krasny. The idea was born when Krasny took a small ad in a free-circulation newspaper to sell his computer and printer. MPK Computing later became Computer Discount Warehouse and then simply CDW.
1993, CDW completed first IPO, being listed on the NASDAQ market.
1995, CDW.com was launched.
In 2003, CDW acquired Micro Warehouse assets.
In 2005, CDW Healthcare was launched.
In 2006, CDW acquired Berbee Information Networks, a top-tier reseller of IBM, Cisco, and Microsoft products and services.
In 2007, CDW went private, being purchased by the private equity firms Madison Dearborn Partners and Providence Equity Partners.
In 2013, the company went public again through an initial public offering on the NASDAQ market under the name CDW Corporation.
In 2015, CDW acquired U.K.-based solutions provider Kelway. It also grew the partnership with Dell.
In 2019, it acquired Canadian solutions provider Scalar Decisions and Aptris.
