Lindt & Sprüngli AG is a holding company, which through its subsidiaries, engages in the manufacture and sale of chocolate products. The company products are sold under the brand names Lindt, Ghirardelli, Caffarel, Hofbauer and Küfferle. It operates through the following segments: Europe, NAFTA and All Other. The Europe segment consists of European companies and business units. The NAFTA segment consists of companies in the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico. The All Other Segments segment consists of all the companies in Australia and Japan, as well as the business unit’s distributors and duty-free. Lindt & Sprüngli was founded in 1845 and is headquartered in Kilchberg, Switzerland.“

    “Lindt & Sprungli History

It all started in a small pastry shop on Marktgasse in Zurich’s old town in 1845. Confectioner David Sprüngli-Schwarz and his 29 year old son Rudolf Sprüngli-Ammann, who also trained to be a confectioner, dared to do something new: they decided to make chocolate. In particular and in keeping with the new fashion that came from Italy –solid bars – just like François-Louis Cailler in Vevey and Philippe Suchard in Neuchâtel had already done.”
