       Sempra is an energy infrastructure company headquartered in San Diego, California, United States.

    HISTORY


       Sempra was formed as Sempra Energy in 1998 through the merger of Pacific Enterprises and Enova Corporation, the parent companies of Southern California Gas Co. and San Diego Gas & Electric Co.

       In 2014, Sempra’s Mexican subsidiary, IEnova, became public via an initial public offering (IPO). IEnova’s assets include pipelines, natural gas distribution, LNG and other liquid fuels infrastructure, as well as wind and solar power generation facilities.

       In 2016, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) approved SDG&E’s Electric Vehicle (EV) Grid-Integration pilot program to install EV charging stations at businesses and multi-family communities.

       In August 2017, IEnova signed long-term contracts with a subsidiary of Valero Energy Corp. for the storage capacity of the liquid fuels marine terminal to be constructed in Veracruz and two inland storage facilities to be constructed in Puebla and Mexico City.

       In October 2017, SoCalGas installed the first power-to-gas project in the U.S. at the Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Lab in Golden, Colorado.

       In 2018, Sempra Energy completed the acquisition of Energy Future Holdings Corp. (EFH), including EFH’s approximate 80% indirect ownership interest in Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC.

       In 2019, Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC acquired InfraREIT, and Sempra Energy acquired an interest in Sharyland Utilities, LLC, expanding the company’s presence in Texas

       In 2021, Sempra Energy changed its name to Sempra, and Sempra Infrastructure was formed through the merger of Sempra LNG and IEnova.

    • Sempra Infrastructure – develops, builds and operates clean power, energy networks and liquefied natural gas (LNG) and net-zero solutions;
    • Sempra California – provides energy to consumers in Southern and Central California through its utilities, SDG&E (San Diego Gas & Electric) and SoCalGas (Southern California Gas Company).
    • Sempra Texas – includes Oncor Electric Delivery Company, a regulated electric transmission and distribution utility headquartered in Dallas;

       With more than 20,000 employees, Sempra is considered one of North America’s largest energy infrastructure companies. According to Forbes, it is considered one of the Largest Public Companies in the World.
