       Shanghai Electric Group Company Limited is an equipment manufacturing company headquartered in Shanghai, China. It specializes in energy equipment, industrial equipment and integration services.

       Its products include thermal generator sets (coal power, gas power), nuclear power units, wind power equipment, power T&D equipment, environmental protection equipment, automation equipment, elevators, rail transit and Industrial Internet, etc.

    HISTORY


       Shanghai Electric’s roots can be traced back to 1902 when Shanghai Dalong Machinery Works was established as Shanghai Electric’s first large-scale enterprise and a pioneer of Shanghai’s modern machine industry.

       In 1954, the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government Heavy Industry Administration was established to facilitate the development of the electromechanical industry.

       In 1955, with the abolishment of the Heavy Industry Administration, the First Heavy Industry Administration and Second Heavy Industry Administration were established in Shanghai. The electromechanical industry was put under the administration of the First Heavy Industry Administration.

       In 1957, the First Heavy Industry Administration was renamed Shanghai Mechanical and Electrical Bureau.

       In 1958, Shanghai Mechanical and Electrical Bureau was divided into the Shanghai Machinery Industry Bureau and Shanghai Electric Machine Industry Bureau.

       In 1961, the Shanghai First Mechanical and Electrical Industry Bureau was formed by merging the Shanghai Machinery Industry Bureau and Shanghai Electric Machine Industry Bureau.

       In January 1985, consolidating the strengths of manufacturers of mechanical, electrical, boiler and auxiliary power station equipment, the Shanghai Municipal Government formed Shanghai Electric Associate Company, which was separated out from the Shanghai First Mechanical and Electrical Industry Bureau and put under the administration of the Shanghai Economic Committee.

       In October 1985, the Shanghai First Mechanical and Electrical Industry Bureau was renamed Shanghai Mechanical and Electrical Industries Administration.

       In 1993, the Shanghai Electric Associate Company was reorganized into Shanghai Electric (Group) Corporation.

       In 1995, Shanghai Mechanical and Electrical Industries Administration was restructured into Shanghai Mechanical and Electrical Holding (Group) Company.

       In 1996, Shanghai Electric (Group) Corporation and Shanghai Mechanical and Electrical Holding (Group) Company jointly reorganized and established a new Shanghai Electric (Group) Corporation.

       In 2004, Shanghai Electric (Group) Corporation was restructured into a shareholding company and established Shanghai Electric Group Limited.

       In 2005, Shanghai Electric Group Limited was renamed Shanghai Electric Group Company Limited.
