     Symantec Corp. provides security, storage, and systems management solutions that help businesses and consumers secure and manage their information and identities. The company operates in three primary markets: security, backup & recovery, and storage management. It operates through five reportable segments: Consumer, Security & Compliance, Storage & Server Management, Services and Other. The Consumersegment helps customers deal with increasingly complex threats, the proliferation of smart mobile devices, the need for identity protection, and the rapid increase in digital consumer data, such as photos, music, and video. It offers security suites and personalized memberships for multiple platforms and devices, including PC’s, Macs, and Android-based phones and tablets, as well as related services such as online backup and family safety. The Security & Compliance segment focuses on providing large, medium, and small-sized businesses with solutions for endpoint security and management, compliance, messaging management, data loss prevention, encryption, managed security services, and authentication services. It also offers solutions delivered through software-as-a-service and appliance security offerings. The Storage & Server Management segment consists of information management and storage management solutions which include storage and server management, backup, archiving, eDiscovery, and data protection solutions across heterogeneous storage and server platforms. The Services segment delivers business critical, consulting and education services. The Other segment includes sunset products and unallocated general and administrative costs. Symantec was founded by Gary Hendrix in April 1982 and is headquartered in Mountain View, CA.“
