   Tokyo Century Corporation is a financial services company headquartered in Chiyoda City, Japan.

HISTORY


   Tokyo Century Corporation was established as Century Tokyo Leasing Corporation in April 2009 through a merger between Century Leasing System, Inc. and Tokyo Leasing Co., Ltd.

   Century Leasing System, Inc. was jointly established in 1969 by ITOCHU Corporation, Daiichi Bank, Ltd. (currently Mizuho Bank, Ltd.), Nippon Life Insurance Company, and Asahi Mutual Life Insurance Company, with a capitalization of 500 million yen.

   Tokyo Leasing Co., Ltd. was jointly established in 1964 by Nippon Kangyo Bank, Ltd. (currently Mizuho Bank, Ltd.), Kangin Tochi-Tatemono Co., Ltd (currently Chuo-Nittochi Co., Ltd.), and Nanoh Co., Ltd. (currently Nissin Tatemono Co., Ltd.), with a capitalization of 1 million yen.

   In October 2009, TLC Business Service Co., Ltd. unified business processing service sections of Century Business Service, Inc., and the company name was changed to TC Business Service Co., Ltd.

   In 2010, IHI Finance Support was converted into a consolidated subsidiary.

   In January 2010, Century Tokyo Leasing China Corporation (currently Tokyo Century Leasing China Corporation) was established through a merger between Tozui Corporation and Century Leasing (China) Co., Ltd.

   In April 2010, TC Agency Corporation was established through a merger between Tokyo Lease Kanzai K.K. and Century Business Service, Inc.

   In 2012, the company acquired interests in GA Telesis and converted it into an equity-method affiliate.

   In April 2012, Tokyo Century started leasing business in India through a business alliance with the Tata Group.

   In August 2012, Tokyo Century established Kyocera TCL Solar LLC. with Kyocera Corporation as a joint venture.

   In 2013, a merger between Tokyo Auto Leasing and Nippon Car Solutions was completed, and Nippon Car Solutions was converted into a consolidated subsidiary. That year, Nippon Rent-A-Car Service was also converted into a consolidated subsidiary.

   In 2014, Tokyo Century acquired shares in a leasing subsidiary of Bank of the Philippine Islands, a leading bank in the Philippines, and converted it first into an equity-method affiliate and then into a consolidated subsidiary in 2020.

   In 2015, CSI Leasing, a leading U.S.-based independent leasing company, was converted into an equity-method affiliate and, in 2016, into a wholly-owned subsidiary.

   In 2016, the company changed its name from Century Tokyo Leasing China Corporation to Tokyo Century Corporation.

   In April 2016, Tokyo Century launched Robot Dispatch (Rental) Business jointly with Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd.

   In May 2016, Tokyo Century established a wood biomass power generation company, Nanatsujima Biomass Power LLC.

   In November 2016, Tokyo Century signed a strategic partnership agreement with Lippo Group, a major conglomerate in Indonesia.

   In December 2016, a strategic partnership with Grab Inc. was concluded.

   In 2017, Aviation Capital Group, a major U.S.-based commercial aircraft lessor, was converted into an equity-method affiliate and then a wholly-owned subsidiary in 2019.

   In February 2017, a strategic business partnership with China Union Pay Merchant Services was concluded.

   In May 2017, a strategic partnership with Tsukishima Kikai Co., Ltd. was concluded.

   In October 2017, a strategic business partnership with Bplats, Inc. was concluded.

   In 2018, Tokyo Century acquired shares in Shinko Real Estate and converted it into a consolidated subsidiary.

   In May 2018, Tokyo Century made an agreement with Yaskawa Electric Corporation and Yaskawa Mechatrec Corporation to collaborate on the rental of rehabilitation devices.

   In December 2018, Tokyo Century established Gateway Engine Leasing LLC, a joint venture for aircraft engine leasing with GA Telesis, LLC and ANA Trading Co., Ltd.

   In March 2019, Tokyo Century acquired shares in Amada Lease and converted it into a consolidated subsidiary.

   In December 2019, the company acquired shares in U.S.-based leasing company AP Equipment Financing and converted it into a wholly-owned subsidiary.

   In June 2019, Tokyo Century acquired a stake in ITOCHU Construction Machinery (a subsidiary of ITOCHU Corporation), converted it into an equity-method affiliate, and then changed the name t ITOCHU TC Construction Machinery.

   In February 2020, a capital and business alliance agreement with Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) was concluded.

   In July 2020, the company jointly acquired Q’sai with Advantage Partners and Euglena. NTT TC Leasing was also established by carving out the leasing and global businesses of NTT Finance.

   In 2021, Tokyo Century acquired a stake in Nittsu Lease & Finance and converted it into an equity-method affiliate. It also jointly acquired a hotel and large-scale hall in the TOKYO TORCH district (Tokyo Tokiwabashi Project) with Mitsubishi Estate.

OPERATIONS


   Tokyo Century operates through the following business segments: Equipment Leasing, Mobility & Fleet Management, Specialty Financing, and International Business.

Equipment Leasing

   The Equipment Leasing segment offers financial services linked to all types of assets, including information and communications equipment, office equipment, factory equipment, construction machinery, and commercial equipment.

Mobility & Fleet Management

   The Mobility & Fleet Management segment delivers services for each use case from a broad lineup, from auto leasing for both corporate customers and individuals to car rental services.

Specialty Financing

   The Specialty Financing segment involves financial services in areas such as shipping, aviation, the environment and energy, real estate, structured finance and principal investment.

International Business

   The International Business segment delivers specialized services on a global scale by partnering with leading local companies and financial institutions to promote its alliance strategy. The company’s overseas network covers more than 30 countries and regions worldwide.
