Blockchain statistics in 2026 fall into two groups: on-chain figures anyone can count, and market forecasts that hinge on scope. This post sets live tokenized-asset data from RWA.xyz against four analyst valuations of the blockchain technology market, then adds CBDC programme counts from the Atlantic Council and first-quarter venture funding from Galaxy Research.

How Big Is the Blockchain Technology Market in 2026?
Four research firms publish a 2026 number. None of them agree.
Future Market Insights values the market at USD 13.82 billion. Grand View Research puts it at USD 108.3 billion for the same calendar year.
The distance is a scope difference rather than a dispute over one quantity. Grand View Research counts infrastructure and protocols as 61.1% of its 2025 revenue base, a layer narrower models leave out.
Every figure below measures vendor revenue under that firm’s own definition. None of them measure the value of assets sitting on a chain.
| Research firm | 2025 value | 2026 value | Forecast endpoint | Stated CAGR |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Future Market Insights | Not stated | USD 13.82B | USD 543.8B by 2036 | 44.3% |
| Fortune Business Insights | USD 31.18B | USD 47.96B | USD 577.36B by 2034 | 36.50% |
| MarketsandMarkets | Not stated | USD 54.08B | USD 610.96B by 2031 | 62.4% |
| Grand View Research | USD 57.7B | USD 108.3B | USD 9,055.5B by 2033 | 88.2% |

All values are vendor revenue under each firm’s own scope.
Quoting one of these numbers without naming the firm tells a reader nothing about what was counted.

CBDC Blockchain Statistics: How Many Countries Have One?
The Atlantic Council counts 146 countries and currency unions exploring a central bank digital currency, together representing over 98% of global GDP. That number stood at 87 in May 2022.
Three have fully launched one: the Bahamas, Jamaica and Nigeria.
Every G20 country except the United States is exploring a CBDC. Eighteen G20 members sit at an advanced stage and fourteen are in the pilot phase.
| Stage | Countries and currency unions |
|---|---|
| Exploring a CBDC | 146 |
| Advanced phase (development, pilot or launch) | 77 |
| Running a pilot project | 41 |
| Fully launched | 3 |

Wholesale work is where the volume shows up. Thirteen cross-border wholesale CBDC projects are running, and transaction volume on mBridge reached USD 55.49 billion, with the e-CNY making up over 95% of settlement volume.
China’s retail pilot remains the largest. By December 2025 the e-CNY had processed more than 3.4 billion transactions worth roughly 16.7 trillion renminbi, or about USD 2.3 trillion.

Blockchain Venture Funding Statistics for Q1 2026
Galaxy Research recorded roughly USD 4 billion invested across 355 crypto and blockchain deals in Q1 2026. Capital fell about 50% quarter over quarter while deal count fell 16%.
Galaxy attributes the drop to the absence of the very large later-stage rounds that lifted Q4 2025, not to a broad slowdown in startup financing.
| Period | Capital invested | Deal count |
|---|---|---|
| Full year 2025 | USD 20 billion | 1,660 |
| Q4 2025 | USD 8.5 billion | 425 |
| Q1 2026 | About USD 4 billion | 355 |

Which Categories Closed the Most Deals?
Trading, exchange, investing and lending businesses led both measures, taking roughly USD 2.6 billion and 74 deals.
Wallet came second on dollars at roughly USD 270 million, a category that tracks closely with mobile app market growth. Payments and rewards startups closed 33 deals, adjacent to the wider e-commerce sales market.

Where Did the Capital Go?
Later-stage companies took roughly 57% of Q1 capital. Earlier-stage rounds took the other 43%, while pre-seed slipped to 19% of deal count.
The median crypto deal size passed USD 4.5 million, a new all-time high. Galaxy notes that valuation data covers only 12% of Q1 deals and skews toward later-stage rounds.
