    BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd. history, profile and corporate video

       BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd. is an Internet of Things (IoT) company headquartered in Beijing, China. It was founded as Beijing Oriental Electronics Group Co. Ltd. by Wang Dongsheng in 1993.

       In 2001, Beijing Oriental Electronics was renamed BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd. Also that year, BOE acquired SK Hynix‘s STN-LCD and OLED businesses.

       In 2003, BOE acquired SK Hynix‘s Hydis flat-panel display businesses.

       In 2009, BOE Energy Technology Co. Ltd. was founded to enter the photovoltaics industry.

       In 2010, BOE acquired Suzhou Gaochuang Electronics’ Taipei Display Research Center and AIO Manufacturing Plant. BOE also acquired K-Tronics.

       In 2015, BOE acquired OASIS International Hospital.

       In 2016, BOE acquired automotive displays maker Varitronix.

       In 2018, BOE acquired SES-imagotag. Also that year, BOE formed a joint venture with Kopin Corporation and Olightek for OLED micro-displays manufacturing.

       In 2019, BOE formed a joint venture with Rohinni for MicroLED and mini LED backlighting manufacturing.


       The Group operates through the following segments: Semiconductor Display, Mini LED (MLED), Sensors and Solutions, Smart System Innovation, and Smart Medical Engineering.

    Semiconductor Display

       The Semiconductor Display industry involves application areas such as smartphone LCD display, tablet computer display, notebook computer display, monitor display, and TV display.

    Mini LED (MLED)

       In the field of Mini LED, BOE (BOE) provides customers with semiconductor technology and advanced micron-level packaging technology next-generation LED display systems and solutions.

    Sensors and Solutions

       The sensor and solution business focuses on medical imaging, biological detection, smart windows, microwave communication, fingerprint recognition and other fields. Smart Windows provides highly competitive sensor components and solutions for transportation, construction and other fields through display and sensor technology innovation.

    Smart System Innovation

       The smart system innovation business uses artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud computing technologies to focus on products and services that integrate software and hardware to provide smart cities, smart finance, smart parks, smart transportation, urban lighting, smart government affairs, smart education, and smart healthcare.

    Smart Medical Engineering

       The Smart Medical Engineering segment involves customized, software-hard-integrated health IoT solutions for digital hospitals.


       With more than 65,000 employees, BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd. is considered one of the world’s largest manufacturers of LCD, OLEDs and flexible displays. According to Forbes, it is considered one of the Top 2000 Largest Public Companies in the World.
