The predecessor of the corporation is the Railway Engineering Corps, which was set up in July 1948 under the supervision of the Military Commission of the Communist Party Central Committee.
In January 1984, the Railway Engineering Corps was transferred to civilian work in an organizational system and was merged into the Ministry of Railways, referred to as the Engineering Headquarters of the Ministry of Railways.
In July 1989, the Engineering Headquarters of the Ministry of Railways was dismissed , In August 1990, The Head Office of China Railway Construction Company was established.
In September 2000, the Head Office of China Railway Construction was disconnected from the Ministry of Railways and came under the supervision of the Central Work Committee for Large Enterprises.
In in March 2003, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council was established and took charge of the Head Office of China Railway Construction Company.
In November 2007, China Railway Construction was incorporated”
