       Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc., abbreviated as Chuden in Japanese, is a Japanese electric utility provider headquartered in Higashi-ku, Nagoya, Japan. It was established on May 1st, 1951.

       The company engages in the supply of electric power, gas, liquefied natural gas, and on-site energy. It also provides overseas consulting and investment, as well as real estate management service.

       Recently, it has also expanded into the IT business, including the business of optical fibers. On January 1, 2006, a new company, Chubu Telecommunications, was formed.

       The company has power generation facilities in more than 210 location, including 10 thermal power stations, 197 hydro generating stations, 1 nuclear power station, 1 wind power station, and 3 solar power stations


    With more than 30 000 employees, Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (Chuden) is considered one of Japan’s largest electric utilities companies in terms of power generation capacity, electric energy sold, and annual revenue. According to Forbes, it is considered one of the top 2000 largest public companies in the world.
