       Continental Resources, Inc. is an oil and natural gas exploration and production company headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States.

       The company is one of the largest leaseholders in the Bakken field that stretches across parts of North Dakota and Montana. It also has significant positions in the SCOOP and STACK plays of the Anadarko Basin of Oklahoma, as well as in the Powder River Basin of Wyoming and the Permian Basin of Texas.

    HISTORY


       Continental Resources’ origins date back to 1967 when Harold Hamm founded Shelly Dean Oil Co., Continental’s predecessor.

       In 1990, Shelly Dean Oil Co. changed its name to Continental Resources.

       In 2007, the company was listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

     In 2021, the company acquired 92,000 net leasehold acres and 50,000 net royalty acres in the Permian Basin from Pioneer Natural Resources.
