CRRC Corporation Limited (China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation) is a Chinese state-owned and publicly traded locomotive & rolling stock manufacturer headquartered in Beijing, China. It was founded on 1 June 2015 through the merger of CNR (China CNR Corp. Ltd.) and CSR (CSR Corp., Ltd.).
The parent of the company is CRRC Group Corporation, a Chinese state-owned holding company. Its predecessors: CNR Group (China Northern Locomotive & Rolling Stock Industry Corporation) and CSR Group (China South Locomotive and Rolling Stock Industry Corporation), once one company, China National Railway Locomotive & Rolling Stock Industry Corporation (LORIC), were separated in 2002, but merged back in 2015 into one holding company under the SASAC, by CNR Group absorbing CSR Group, and renamed into CRRC Group.
The company’s main business is R&D (Research and development), design, manufacturing, repair, sales, leasing, and technical services of steam locomotives, diesel locomotives, electric locomotives, DMU and EMU, high-speed trains, urban rail transit vehicles, engineering machinery, various mechanical and electrical equipment, electronic equipment and parts, and electronic appliances and environmental protection equipment products.
With more than 165 000 employees, CRRC Corp. Ltd. is considered one of the world’s largest rolling stock manufacturers in terms of revenue. According to Forbes, it is considered one of the top 2000 largest public companies in the world.
