DB Insurance Co, Ltd. is an insurance company headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. It provides long-term insurance, car insurance, and general insurance.
DB Insurance was established in 1962 as Korea Public Automobile Insurance Company.
In 1968, the Korea Public Automobile Insurance Company was dissolved and Public Automobile Insurance Co. Ltd. was established.
In 1976, the company introduced, for the first time in Korea, unlimited coverage liability insurance for car owner indemnity, a precursor of current automobile insurance.
In 1983, Dongbu Group acquired the management right of the company.
In March 1984, Korean Automobile Insurance Service Inc., a claim survey provider was established.
In February 1984, it began selling all lines of non-life insurance products by acquiring an additional business permit for six corporate insurances, including marine, aviation, boiler and machinery, Erection All Risks (E.A.R) and Contractors All Risks (C.A.R).
In 1995, the company changed its name to Dongbu Insurance Co. Ltd.
In 2005, Dongbu Promy Basketball Team was established .
In 2008, Acquired approval of taking in Dongbu Securities as the company’s subsidiary.
In 2014, Dongbu Financial Service was launched.
In 2015, the company acquired PTI, a Vietnamese general insurer.
In 2017, Dongbu Insurance Co. Ltd. was renamed DB Insurance Co., Ltd.
With more than 4,500 employees, DB Insurance Co, Ltd. is considered one of the largest general insurance companies in Korea. According to Forbes, it is considered one of the Largest Public Companies in the World.
