Guaranty Trust Bank was incorporated in 1990 as Guaranty Bank.
In 1996, Guaranty Trust Bank was listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
In 2002, the bank changed its name to Guaranty Bond Bank.
In 2014, the bank changed its name to Guaranty Trust Bank.
