       Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc. is a multinational hospitality company headquartered in Tysons Corner, Virginia, United States.

    HISTORY


       Hilton Worldwide’s origins date back to 1919, when Conrad Hilton entered the hotel business by acquiring The Mobley, a local hotel in Cisco, Texas.

       In 1925, the first hotel formally named a Hilton was opened in Dallas, Texas.

       In 1946, the company was incorporated as The Hilton Hotels Corporation and was listed on the New York Stock Exchange. It was the first hotel company to be listed on the stock exchange.

       In 1949, Hilton International was born, with the opening of the Caribe Hilton in Puerto Rico.

       In 1954, Conrad Hilton acquired Statler Hotel for $111 million, which at the time was the world’s largest real estate transaction ever.

       In 1964, Hilton International was formed as a separate company.

       In 1967, Trans World Airlines acquired Hilton International.

       In 1969, the first DoubleTree hotel opened in Scottsdale, AZ.

       In 1970, Hilton entered the domestic gaming business by purchasing the Flamingo Hotel and the Las Vegas International. It was later named the Las Vegas Hilton.

       In 1981, Conrad Hotels was founded to operate a network of luxury hotels and resorts.

       In 1995, Hilton.com was launched.

       In 2006, Hilton Hotels Corporation reacquired Hilton International, reuniting the companies and expanding Hilton’s portfolio of brands worldwide.

       In 2007, Hilton Hotels Corporation merged with an affiliate of The Blackstone Group’s real estate and corporate private equity funds.

       In 2009, Hilton Hotels Corporation changed its name to Hilton Worldwide.
