    Hyundai Steel Co., Ltd. history, profile and history video

       Hyundai Steel Co., Ltd. is a steel company headquartered in Incheon and Seoul, South Korea. It is a member of the Hyundai Motor Group. Its products range extends from steel bars for construction and thick plates for shipbuilding through to hot rolled plates and cold rolled plates for automobiles.

       The company is the only domestic steel company equipped with both blast furnaces and electric arc furnaces.

    HISTORY


       Hyundai Steel was established as Korea Heavy Industry Corporation in 1953. It was Korea’s first steelmaker.

       In 1962, the company was renamed Incheon Heavy Industry Co., Ltd.

       In 1964, Incheon Steel Corporation was established.

       In 1970, Incheon Heavy Industry merged with Incheon Steel Corporation.

       In 1978, Incheon Steel was incorporated into Hyundai Group.

       In 1999, Qingdao Hyundai Machinery Co., Ltd. was established.

       In 2000, Incheon Steel merged with Kangwon Industries and Sammi Specialty Steel Company.

       In April 2001, Incheon Steel joined Hyundai Motor Group.

       In July 2001, Incheon Steel changed its name to INI Steel.

       In 2004, INI Steel acquired Hanbo Steel Co., Ltd.

       In 2006, INI Steel was renamed Hyundai Steel Company.

       In 2015, Hyundai Steel merged with Hyundai Hysco.


       With more than 11,000 employees, Hyundai Steel Co., Ltd. is considered one of the Largest Public Companies in the World, according to Forbes.
