    HISTORY


    ย  ย INPEX Corporation was formed on October 1, 2008, through the merger of INPEX Holdings, INPEX, and Teikoku Oil.

    INPEX Holdings

       INPEX Holdings was formed as a result of a government-orchestrated merger, between INPEX and Teikoku Oil.

    INPEX

       It was founded in 1966 as North Sumatra Offshore Petroleum Exploration Co., Ltd., which was engaged in promoting the independent development of overseas oil resources in accordance with a contract signed with PERMINA (now PERTAMINA).

    Teikoku Oil

    ย  ย Teikoku Oil Co., Ltd. was founded in 1941 as a semi-government company to unify the existing Japanese oil exploration companies at the time.

    OPERATIONS


       The company operates through the following business segments: Oil & natural gas, and Renewable Energy.

    Oil & natural gas

       The Oil & natural gas segment focuses on the discovery, drilling, collecting and selling of crude oil and natural gas.

    Renewable Energy

       The Renewable Energy segment is engaged in efforts to commercialize various types of renewable energy such as geothermal, which has synergies with conventional oil and gas development, as well as wind power and photovoltaic power generation.


    ย  ย With more than 3,000 employees and global exploration, development and production projects in 20 countries, INPEX Corp. is considered one of the largest oil and gas exploration and production companies in Japan. According to Forbes, it is considered one of the top 2000 largest public companies in the world.
