    Marfrig Global Foods SA history, company profile (overview) and corporate video

       Marfrig Global Foods SA is a food processing company headquartered in São Paulo, Brazil. The company is engaged in the production of high value-added foods based on animal protein, basically bovine, and of varied options, ready for consumption, such as frozen vegetables, sheep, fish, and sauces.

    HISTORY


       Marfrig was established in 2000.

       Between 2005-2008, Marfrig acquired 35 slaughterhouses and brands (Tacuarembó S.A., La Caballada, and Inaler S.A., in Uruguay; Frigorífico Patagônia S.A. and Quinto Cuarto S.A. in Chile; Breeders and Packers, owned by Mirab S.A., the hamburger brand Paty in Argentina, Penapaulo and Granja Agroindustrial, and Moy Parkin Europe).

       In 2007, Marfrig was listed on the B3 Novo Mercado exchange.

       In 2010, the company acquired Keystone Foods, a supplier of processed meats to several companies, including McDonald’s. Marfrig sold Keystone to Tyson Foods in 2018.

       In 2010 and 2014, the company was a sponsor of the FIFA World Cup.

       In 2014, Marfrig sold its poultry, pork and processed foods division, Seara Brasil, and changed its name to Marfrig Global Foods.

    ​   In 2020, Marfrig entered into a joint venture with Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) and created PlantPlus!, which produces and sells plant-based foods through retail channels and food service chains in South and North America.
