Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) is an Indian multinational Crude Oil and Gas corporation headquartered in New Delhi, India. It was founded on 14 August 1956 by the Government of India.
The company is involved in exploring for and exploiting hydrocarbons in India, and supplies crude oil, natural gas, and value-added products, such as petrol, diesel, kerosene, naphtha, and cooking gas-Liquefied Petroleum Gas, to major Indian oil and gas refining and marketing companies.
Its international subsidiary ONGC Videsh Limited (OVL) has projects in 17 countries around the world, and its primary business is to prospect for oil and gas acreages outside India, including exploration, development and production of oil and gas.
With more than 31 000 employees, Oil & Natural Gas Corp. Ltd. is considered one of the largest oil and gas exploration and production companies in the country. According to Forbes, it is considered one of the top 2000 largest public companies in the world.
