Pandora A/S history, company profile (overview) and history video

Pandora A/S is a manufacturer and retailer of jewelry headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark. It designs, manufactures and markets charms, bracelets, rings, earrings, necklaces, and pendants.

    HISTORY

Pandora was founded in 1982 as a local Danish jewelry store in Copenhagen, Denmark, by the Danish goldsmith Per Enevoldsen and his wife Winnie Enevoldsen.

From the beginning, they often traveled to Thailand in search of jewelry for import. As the demand for their products increased, they started focusing on becoming wholesalers.

In 1987, the retail activities were discontinued, the first in-house designer joined the company, and PANDORA began focusing on creating its own jewelry.

In 1989, the company began manufacturing its jewelry in Thailand.

In 2000, PANDORA’s signature charm bracelet concept was first launched in the Danish market. Consumers embraced the concept, and driven by the growing demand, the company began to expand internationally, entering new markets such as the United States in 2003 and Germany and Australia in 2004.

In 2005, Pandora’s first fully owned manufacturing facility was opened in Gemopolis, Thailand.

In 2010, Pandora was listed on the NASDAQ OMX stock exchange in Copenhagen.

In 2014, Pandora launched the first Disney x Pandora collection in collaboration with Disney.

In 2019, the company launched a new range of jewelry, Pandora Me, and began a partnership with UNICEF.

In 2019, the company also launched the Harry Potter collection, which marked the beginning of the partnership with Warner Bros.

With over 32,000 people worldwide and with its jewelry sold in more than 100 countries, Pandora A/S is considered one of the world’s biggest jewelry brands. According to Forbes, it is considered one of the Largest Public Companies in the World.
