Pearson plc is a multinational publishing and education company headquartered in London, England, the United Kingdom. It operates through the following business sectors: Assessment & Qualifications, Virtual Learning, English Language Learning, Workforce Skills, and Higher Education.

    HISTORY

The origins of Pearson go back to 1724 when Thomas Longman founded Longman.

Pearson was actually founded in 1844 by Samuel Pearson as S. Pearson and Son, a small building and engineering firm in Yorkshire in the North of England.

By 1880, Pearson became one of the world’s largest building contractors at a time when the industry controlled development of the transportation, trade, and communication links that fuelled world economies.

In 1969, the company was listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE).

In 2015, Pearson was rebranded, with a 100% focus on education.

With more than 20,000 employees, Pearson plc is considered one of the largest learning companies in the world. According to Forbes, it is considered one of the Largest Public Companies in the World.
