    PulteGroup, Inc. (previously Pulte Homes) history, profile and corporate video

       PulteGroup, Inc. (previously known as Pulte Homes) is a homebuilding company headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. It sells its products under recognized and trusted brands in homebuilding, including Pulte Homes, Centex, Del Webb, DiVosta, American West, and John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods.

    HISTORY


       The story of PulteGroup began in 1950 when 18-year-old William “Bill” Pulte, with help from his high-school buddies, built a five-room bungalow near the city of Detroit, Michigan.

       In 1956, the company was incorporated as William J. Pulte, Inc.

       In 1969, American Builders, Inc. was acquired, and the company went public as Pulte Home Corporation.

       In 1972, the company’s stock began trading on the American Stock Exchange (AMEX).

       In 1983, the stock of the parent company, PHM Corporation, began trading on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

       In 1992, PHM Corporation’s name was changed to Pulte Corporation.

       In 1996, the company initiated a joint venture with General Motors to provide homes in Mexico.

       In 1998, Pulte acquired Radnor Homes and DiVosta Homes; signed an exclusive agreement with General Electric to supply all Pulte homes with its branded home appliances.

       In 2001, Pulte Corporation changed its name to Pulte Homes, Inc. Pulte Homes completed the merger with Del Webb Corporation to create one of the nation’s largest homebuilders.

       In 2009, Pulte Homes merged with Centex Corporation to create one of America’s largest homebuilding companies.

       In 2010, Pulte Homes, Inc. changed its name to PulteGroup, Inc.

       In April 2019, the company acquired the homebuilding operations of American West Homes.


       With more than 5,000 employees, PulteGroup, Inc. is considered one of America’s largest homebuilding companies. According to Forbes, it is considered one of the Largest Public Companies in the World.
