       Reinsurance Group of America, Inc. (RGA) is a global life and health reinsurance company headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, United States.

       The company’s core products and services include life reinsurance, living benefits reinsurance, group reinsurance, health reinsurance, financial solutions, facultative underwriting, and product development.


    HISTORY

       Reinsurance Group of America was founded in 1973 as a life reinsurance division created by General American Life Insurance Company.

       In 1972, General American Life Insurance Company acquired the life reinsurance business of National Reinsurance of Canada, which later became RGA Life Reinsurance Company of Canada.

       In 1993, Reinsurance Group of America, Incorporated was listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

       In 1994, RGA opened the company’s first office in Spain.

       In 1995, RGA launched the business unit that will evolve into RGA Global Financial Solutions. It also starts operations in Hong Kong and Japan.

       In 1996, RGA opened its first office in Australia.

       In 1997, RGA opened its first office in Malaysia.

       In 1998, the company opened offices in Mexico, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.

       In 1999, MetLife acquired a majority stake in RGA from General American. Also, RGA entered the Taiwan market.

       In 2001, RGA Technology Partners was formed to develop life insurance technology solutions, including the AURA automated underwriting platform.

       In 2002, RGA opened a branch office in South Korea and a representative office in India.

       In 2005, RGA opened a representative office in China.

       In 2006, RGA opened an office in Poland and expanded in the Central and Eastern Europe markets.

       In 2007, RGA opened offices in France and Italy.

       In 2008, RGA spun off from MetLife to become a fully independent company. Also, RGA opened an office in Germany.

       In 2009, RGA acquired the North American group life, accident and health reinsurance business from ING. Also, RGA opened an office in the Netherlands.

       In 2011, RGA opened an office in the United Arab Emirates.

       In 2015, RGA launched RGAX and also opened an office in Singapore.

       In 2016, RGA opened an office in Brazil.


       With more than 3,600 employees, Reinsurance Group of America, Incorporated is considered one of the largest global life and health reinsurance companies. According to Forbes, it is considered one of the Top 2000 Largest Public Companies in the World.
