RELX Plc history, profile and corporate video

RELX Plc, previously known as Reed Elsevier, is a global provider of information-based analytics and decision tools with headquarters in London, U.K. and Amsterdam, Netherlands. It was established as Reed Elsevier in 1992 through the merger of Reed International, a British trade book and magazine publisher, and Elsevier, a Netherlands-based scientific publisher.

In February 2015, the company re-branded itself as RELX.

    Reed International Limited

Reed International was founded in 1895 when Albert E. Reed established a newsprint manufacturing operation at Tovil Mill near Maidstone, Kent, England.

    Elsevier NV

Elsevier was founded in 1880 when Jacobus George Robbers started a publishing company called NV Uitgeversmaatschappij Elsevier (Elsevier Publishing Company NV) to publish literary classics and the encyclopedia Winkler Prins. The company was named after the Elzevir family, a celebrated family of Dutch booksellers, publishers, and printers.

Relx operates through the following sectors: Scientific, Technical & Medical, Risk, Legal, and Exhibitions.

    Scientific, Technical & Medical

The Scientific, Technical & Medical sector helps researchers and healthcare professionals advance science and improve health by facilitating insights and critical decision-making for customers.

    Risk

The Risk sector provides customers with information-based analytics and decision tools that combine public and industry-specific content with advanced technology and algorithms to assist them in evaluating and predicting risk and enhancing operational efficiency.

    Legal

The Legal sector provides legal, regulatory and business information and analytics that help customers increase their productivity, improve decision-making and achieve better outcomes.

    Exhibitions

The Exhibitions sector combines industry expertise with data and digital tools to help customers connect digitally and face-to-face, learn about markets, source products and complete transactions.

With over 33 00 employees in more than 180 countries worldwide, RELX Plc is considered one of the top 2000 largest public companies in the world, according to Forbes.
