It operates through the following product families: Installation Equipment; Conduits and Cables; Lighting; Security and Communication; Climate Control; White and Brown Products; and Tools. The Installation Equipment includes coupling and circuit protection; energy conversion and storage; and command control equipment. The Conduits and Cables distribute power generation products such as raceways, wiring ducts, and cable troughs. The Lighting products comprises of light sources such as bulbs, incandescent, halogen, and fluorescent tubes. The Security and Communication includes voice and data transmission systems; intrusion and fire detection; and surveillance and access control devices. The Climate Control consists of ventilation, air conditioning, and heating appliances. The White and Brown Products includes household appliances and audiovisual equipment. The Tools comprise of hand and electrical tools, instrumental tools, protective equipment, and miscellaneous equipment. The company was founded in 1967 and is headquartered in Paris, France.“

2011 : Entry into the Indian, Brazilian and Peruvian market
2012 : Rudy Provoost becomes Chairman of the Management Board, and Chief Executive Officer of Rexel. Rexel launches the company plan Energy in Motion.
