HISTORY
Sega Sammy’s origins date back to 1951 when Sega’s predecessor company was founded.
In 1960, Nihon Goraku Bussan Co., Ltd. was incorporated.
In 1964, it was implemented the absorption merger with Nihon Kikai Seizo Co., Ltd.
In 1965, it was implemented the absorption merger with Rosen Enterprises, Inc.
In 1965, the company also changed its name to SEGA ENTERPRISES LTD.
In 1969, the company was acquired by U.S. conglomerate Gulf & Western Industries Inc.
In 1975, Sammy Industry Co., Ltd. was founded.
In 1984, Sega Europe Ltd. was established.
In 1985, Sega Enterprises Inc. (U.S.A.) was established.
In 1995, the logistics services division from SEGA was split off to establish Sega Logistics Service Co., Ltd.
In 2000, the company changed its name to SEGA CORPORATION.
In 2004, SEGA SAMMY HOLDINGS INC. was established through the merger of Sega Corporation and Sammy Corporation.
In 2006, the company entered into a strategic business alliance with Sanrio Company, Ltd.
In 2009, GINZA CORPORATION became a subsidiary, and SEGA SAMMY VISUAL ENTERTAINMENT INC. (Currently MARZA ANIMATION PLANET INC.) was established.
In 2010, Sammy Networks Co., Ltd., SEGA TOYS CO., LTD., and TMS ENTERTAINMENT, LTD. became wholly owned subsidiaries.
In 2011, TAIYO ELEC Co., Ltd. became a wholly owned subsidiary.
In 2012, Phoenix Resort Co., Ltd. became a wholly owned subsidiary, and SEGA Networks, Ltd. was established through a divestiture from SEGA.
In 2013, the company acquired the North American developer Relic Entertainment Inc. and intellectual properties related to titles under development.
In 2015, the company was reorganized through an incorporation-type demerger, which designated SEGA CORPORATION as the transferor and established SEGA Holdings Co., Ltd., SEGA Interactive Co., Ltd., and SEGA LIVE CREATION Inc. (currently CA Sega Joypolis Ltd.) (SEGA).
With more than 450 employees, Sega Sammy Holdings Inc. is considered one of the Largest Public Companies in the World, according to Forbes.
