       St. James’s Place plc is a multinational wealth management company headquartered in Cirencester, England, the United Kingdom.

    ST. JAMES’S PLACE HISTORY


       The St. James’s Place Group was established by Sir Mark Weinberg, Mike Wilson CBE and Lord Rothschild in 1991 under the name of the J. Rothschild Assurance Group. It started trading in 1992.

       In 1997, the J. Rothschild Assurance group achieved a reverse takeover of St. James’s Place Capital, securing a public listing on the London Stock Exchange.

       In 2000, Halifax Group plc acquired 60% of the issued share capital of St. James’s Place (this was sold in 2013). Halifax merged with the Bank of Scotland in 2001 to create HBOS plc. HBOS plc merged with Lloyds TSB in 2009 to create Lloyds Banking Group plc.

       In October 2001, the company changed its name from J. Rothschild Assurance, to St. James’s Place Capital.

       In 2006, St. James’s Place Capital was renamed St. James’s Place.

       In 2013, Lloyds Banking Group disposed of its remaining holding in St. James’s Place.

       In 2014, St. James’s Place acquired The Henley Group, one of Asia’s largest wealth management advice companies.

       In 2016, St. James’s Place acquired Rowan Dartington to create the group’s discretionary fund management and stockbroking arm.

    OPERATIONS


       St. James’s Place Group operates through the following products and services: Investments, Retirement, Protection, Banking and Mortgages.

    Investments

       The Investments sector offers a range of individual funds and risk-rated Portfolios.

    Retirement

       The Retirement sector involves pensions, retirement savings, and passing wealth to the next generation.

    Protection

       The Protection sector includes three types of protection: Life assurance, Income protection and critical illness plans.

    Banking and Mortgages

       The Banking and Mortgages sector involves mortgages, other borrowings, cash management, savings accounts, international FX payments, and private banking services.


       With more than 2,500 employees, St. James’s Place Group is considered one of the UK’s largest wealth management companies. According to Forbes, it is considered one of the Largest Public Companies in the World.
