Talanx AG is a German multinational financial holding company headquartered in Hanover, Germany. It was established in 1996 as a thoroughbred finance holding company. Still, it can trace its roots to HDI’s establishment as a liability association of the German iron and steel industry in 1903.
The company, through its subsidiaries, operates in the following divisions: Industrial Lines, Retail Germany, Retail International, Reinsurance, and Corporate Operations.
Industrial Lines
The Industrial Lines division offers to the corporate and industrial clients a wide range of products and services, such as liability, motor, accident, fire and property insurance to transport and aviation, financial lines and engineering covers.
Retail Germany
The Retail Germany division concentrates the activities of companies serving retail and commercial customers in the areas of Property/Casualty insurance, life insurance and bancassurance in Germany
Retail International
The Retail International division concentrates the activities of companies serving retail and commercial customers in the areas of property and casualty insurance, life insurance and bancassurance in foreign markets.
Reinsurance
The Reinsurance division offers all lines of property & casualty and life & health reinsurance.
Corporate Operations
The Corporate Operations includes the Group’s own internal reinsurance broker Talanx Reinsurance Broker (Talanx Re Broker), Talanx Reinsurance (Ireland), asset management activities and the service companies.
The Group operates as a multi-brand provider, including Ampega, CiV Life, Hannover Re, HDI, LifeStyle Protection, neue leben, PB insurers, Posta Biztosító, TARGO insurers, TU Europa, and WARTA.
With more than 23 000 employees and a presence in more than 150 countries, Talanx is considered one of the largest German insurance group in terms of premium income and one of the largest in Europe. According to Forbes, Talanx AG is considered one of the top 2000 largest public companies in the world.
