       Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Inc., also known as Toden or TEPCO, is a Japanese electric utility holding company headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. It was founded on May 1, 1951, but it traces its roots to its predecessor’s founding, The Tokyo Electric Light Company, Inc., in 1883.


       As a holding company, Tokyo Electric Power Co. Holdings, Inc. owned the following subsidiaries:

    • TEPCO Power Grid – Responsible for managing power grid and transmits and distributes electricity between electricity wholesaler and retailer.
    • TEPCO Energy Partner – Electricity retailer operating throughout Japan.
    • TEPCO Fuel & Power – Operates fossil fuel power stations.
    • Tokyo Electric Generation Company – Generates wholesale electricity for the electricity market.
    • Tokyo Electric Power Services Co. Ltd (TEPSCO) – Provides consulting services for the electric power industry.

       With more than 41 000 employees, Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Inc. is considered one of the top 2000 largest public companies in the world, according to Forbes.
