       Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) is a commercial bank, headquartered in Hanoi, Vietnam.

       Originated as a specialized bank for foreign trade, Vietcombank has become a multiple sector bank, providing customers with a wide range of financial services. It offers both traditional banking services such as international settlement and trade finance, fund mobilization, lending, and project finance, as well as modern banking services such as treasury and derivatives, card services, e-banking, and securities trading and investment.

    HISTORY


       Vietcombank was formerly known as the Foreign Exchange Management Department under the Vietnam National Bank, which was established in 1955.

       In 1961, the Foreign Exchange Management Department changed its name to the Agency of Foreign Exchange under the State Bank of Vietnam.

       In 1963, Vietcombank was founded as Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam after being spun off from the Foreign Exchange Bureau of the State Bank of Vietnam.

       In 1996, the company changed its name from Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam to Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam.

       In the 1991-2007 period, Vietcombank was transformed from a specialized foreign trade bank to a State commercial bank.

       In 2009, Vietcombank was listed on Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange.
