       WestRock Co. is a paper and packaging company headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, United States.

    HISTORY


       WestRock was formed in 2015 after the merger of MeadWestvaco and RockTenn.

       In 2015, the company purchased SP Fiber Holdings, Inc.

       In 2016, the company acquired Cenveo Packaging.

       In March 2017, WestRock purchased Star Pizza box, one of the largest US manufacturers and distributors of pizza boxes.

       In June 2017, the company acquired Multi Packaging Solutions International (MPS).

       In 2018, WestRock acquired Plymouth Packaging, Inc., and also announced that it would acquire the pulp and paper company Kapstone.

    MeadWestvaco

       MeadWestvaco Corporation was a packaging company headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, United States. MeadWestvaco was formed in 2002 after the merger of Mead Corporation and Westvaco.

       The Mead Corporation was founded as Ellis, Chaflin & Co in 1846. Ellis, Chaflin & Co changed its name to Weston & Mead in 1856, then it became Mead & Weston in 1861, and was renamed again to The Mead Paper Company in 1881. In 1930, the Mead Corporation was formed to unite the several Mead companies under one umbrella.

       Westvaco’s predecessor company, Piedmont Pulp & Paper Co., was founded in 1888.

    RockTenn

       RockTenn was a paper and packaging manufacturer headquartered in Norcross, Georgia, United States. RockTenn Company was formed in 1973 after the merger of Rock City Packaging, Inc. and Tennessee Paper Mills Inc.

       Rock City Packaging’s origins date back to the founding of Rock City Box Company of Nashville, Tenne ssee in 1898.

       Tennessee Paper Mills was incorporated in 1917.
