Wilmar International Limited is a Singaporean food processing and investment holding company. It was founded on 1 April 1991 as Wilmar Trading Pte Ltd, by the co-founders Kuok Khoon Hong and Martua Sitorus.
The company operates through the following business segments: Food Products, Feed and Industrial Products, Plantation, Fertiliser, Shipping, and Research & Development.
Food Products
The Food Products segment comprises a wide range of edible food products, which includes vegetable oils produced from palm and oilseeds, sugar, flour, rice, noodles, specialty fats, snacks, bakery, and dairy products.
Feed and Industrial Products
The Feed and Industrial Products segment comprises the processing, merchandising and distribution of products, which includes animal feeds, non-edible palm and lauric products, agricultural commodities, oleochemicals, gas oil and biodiesel.
Plantation
The Plantation segment involves Oil Palm Plantation & Milling and Sugar Milling.
Fertiliser
The Fertiliser segment comprises nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (NPK) compound fertilizers.
Shipping
The Shipping segment involves a fleet of liquid and dry bulk carriers.
Research & Development
The Research & Development segment focuses on developing new technologies and products in areas including cooking oils, specialty fats, proteins, condiments, functional foods, cereals as well as feedstuff. It also focuses on biotechnology research to enhance our competitiveness and sustainability in the oil palm industry, as well as to create healthier food products or to devise green production technologies for industrial enzymes and biochemicals.
With more than 90 000 employees, Wilmar International Limited has over 500 manufacturing plants in 19 countries and a distribution network covering China, India, Indonesia and some 50 other countries. It is considered a leading agribusiness group in Asia and one of the largest globally.
