Worley Limited is an engineering professional services company of energy, chemicals and resources experts. It is headquartered in North Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
HISTORY
Worley’s origins date back to 1976 when John Grill joined Smith, de Kantzow & Wholohan, which led to the establishment of Wholohan Grill and Partners, a small engineering consultancy in Australia.
In 1987, Wholohan Grill and Partners acquired the Australian interests of Worley, an American engineering firm with a strong reputation in the offshore gas and oil arena, and then changed its name to Worley.
In the 1990s, the company acquired companies in Canada and the United States, becoming one of the leading companies in the global engineering and consultancy services industry.
In the 2000s, Worley expanded across Africa, the Middle East and Canada.
In 2002, the company was listed on the Australian Securities Exchange.
In 2004, Worley acquired Parsons E&C and began trading as WorleyParsons. Persons E&C’s origins date back to 1994 when Ralph M. Parsons started what is now the Parsons Corporation in Los Angeles. In 2002, Parsons Corporation separated Parsons E&C from its other business units.
In 2007, Colt Companies, Canada’s largest engineering and project services company, became part of WorleyParsons. That year, the company also acquired Patterson Britton and Partners, and John Wilson and Partners, both consultants in water and environmental services.
In 2009, WorleyParsons acquired the United Kingdom assets of Day & Zimmermann.
In the 2010s, the company made several acquisitions, including Jacobs Energy, Chemicals and Resources.
In 2014, MTG, Ltd., an American management consulting firm in the oil and gas, petrochemicals and chemicals industries, was acquired.
In 2020, WorleyParsons rebranded to Worley.
With more than 50,000 employees across 45 countries, Worley Ltd. is considered one of the Largest Public Companies in the World, according to Forbes.
