Zijin Mining Group Co., Limited is a multinational mining group engaged in the exploration and development of gold, copper and other mineral resources globally, and covers refining, processing, trading and other businesses. It is headquartered in Shanghang, Longyan, Fujian, China.
The company was founded in 1986 as the Shanghang Mineral Company.
In 1993, it was regrouped to Shanghang Zijin Mining Company, focusing on developing Zijinshan Gold Mine.
In 1994, the company changed its name to Fujian Minxi Zijin Mining Group Co., Ltd.
In 2000, the company transformed into a shareholding company. Also that year, Fujian Zijin Mining Co. was established.
In 2003, Zijin was listed on Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
Its largest shareholder Shanghang Minxi Xinghang State-Owned Property Investment Company, which holds 24% of Zijin, is owned by the government of Shanghang County, Fujian Province.
With more than 36 000 employees, Zijin Mining Group Co., Ltd. owns significant mining investment projects in 12 overseas countries and 14 provinces (regions) in the People’s Republic of China (PRC). It is considered one of the largest gold, copper and Zinc producers in China. According to Forbes, it is considered one of the top 2000 largest public companies in the world.
