Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central) history, profile and corporate video

   Central Japan Railway Company (東海旅客鉄道株式会社), abbreviated in English as JR Central and in Japanese as JR Tōkai (JR東海), is a railway services company headquartered in Nakamura-ku, Nagoya, Japan.

   The company was established on April 1, 1987. However, its history can be traced back to 1949 when its predecessor Japanese National Railways (JNR) has started to operate Japan’s national railway network. Also, the predecessor of the Japanese National Railways was represented by the Japanese Government Railways (JGR), which was the national railway system directly operated by the central government of Japan from 1872 to 1949.
