    HISTORY


       IQVIA Holdings, Inc., formerly Quintiles IMS Holdings, Inc., was founded in 2016 through the merger of Quintiles and IMS Health.

       The name IQVIA honors the legacy organizations. I (IMS Health) Q (Quintiles) and VIA (by way of).

    IMS Health

       IMS Health was one of the world’s largest information and technology services companies. It was originally named Intercontinental Marketing Statistics.

       IMS Health’s origins date back to 1998 when the parent company, Cognizant Corporation, split into two companies: IMS Health and Nielsen Media Research. After this restructuring, Cognizant Technology Solutions became a subsidiary of IMS Health.

       In 2002, IMS Health acquired Cambridge Pharma Consultancy, a provider of strategic advice to pharmaceutical management.

       In 2003, the company acquired Marketing Initiatives, specialized in healthcare facility profile data, and Data Niche Associates.

       In 2003, IMS Health sold its stake in Cognizant and both companies are separated into two independent companies: IMS Health and Cognizant.

       In 2004, the company acquired United Research China Shanghai.

       In 2005, IMS Health acquired PharMetrics, a provider of patient-centric integrated claims data.

       In 2006, the company acquired the Life Sciences practice of Strategic Decisions Group.

       In 2007, IMS Health acquired IHS and MedInitiatives, providers of healthcare data management analytics and technology services. That year, the company also acquired ValueMedics Research, extending its health economics and outcomes research capabilities.

       In 2008, the company acquired RMBC, a provider of national pharmaceutical market intelligence and analytics in Russia.

       In 2008, IMS Health acquired the Skura professional services group, which specialized in data integration, consulting, and services in business intelligence platforms.

       In 2010, the company acquired Brogan, Inc., a market research and consulting company.

       In 2011, IMS Health acquired SDI Health and Med-Vantage in the US, and Ardentia Ltd in the UK.

       In 2012, the company acquired PharmARC Analytic Solutions Pvt. Ltd, an analytics company.

       In 2012, IMS Health acquired DecisionView, a software company that helps life sciences organizations plan and track patient enrollment for clinical trials. It also acquired TTC, a benchmarking and analytics company that helps clients plan for and negotiate the costs of clinical trials. PharmaDeals Ltd. was also acquired in 2012.

       In April 2015, IMS Health acquired Cegedim’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and Strategic Data business.

       In May 2015, IMS Health acquired Dataline Software Ltd, a software development and data research company.

       In August 2015, IMS Health acquired Boston Biomedical Consultants.

    Quintiles

       Quintiles was one of the world’s largest providers of product development and integrated healthcare services, including commercial and observational solutions.

       Quintiles was founded and incorporated as Quintiles Transnational by Dennis Gillings in 1982.

       In 1996, Quintiles acquired Innovex Ltd. and BRI International Inc.

       In 2011, Quintiles acquired the bioanalytical lab Advion Biosciences.


       In 2016, Quintiles merged with IMS Health to form a new company Quintiles IMS Holdings, Inc.

       In 2017, Quintiles IMS Holdings, Inc. was renamed IQVIA Holdings, Inc.


       With over 79,000 employees and operations in more than 100 countries, IQVIA Holdings, Inc. is considered one of the world’s largest providers of advanced analytics, technology solutions, and clinical research services. According to Forbes, it is considered one of the Largest Public Companies in the World.
