   Naturgy Energy Group S.A., (formerly Gas Natural), is a Spanish multinational natural gas and electrical energy utilities company with its administrative headquarters in Barcelona and its legal headquarters in Madrid, Spain.

HISTORY


   Naturgy Energy was established in 1843 as Sociedad Catalana para el Alumbrado por Gas (SCAG), which was one of the first companies to bring light to Barcelona’s streets and public spaces.

   In 1912, SCAG changed its name to Catalana de Gas y Electricidad, S.A. (CGE).

   In 1991, the company changed its name to Gas Natural Fenosa. In 2018, Gas Natural Fenosa changed its name to Naturgy Energy Group.

OPERATIONS


   The company operates through the following segments: Renewables, Electricity, Gas, and Sustainable mobility.

Renewables

   The Renewables segment involves the production of electricity using renewables sources, such as solar, wind, or hydropower.

Electricity

   The Electricity segment involves the production of electricity using conventional power generation, such as combined cycles, nuclear and thermal.

Gas

   The Gas segment supplies Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), a natural gas that has been processed into its liquid form for transportation, across the world.

Sustainable mobility

   The Sustainable mobility segment develops biomethane, green hydrogen, electricity, and NGV.


   With more than 11,000 employees, Naturgy Energy Group S.A. operates in more than 20 countries, and it is considered one of the largest integrated gas and electricity companies in Spain. According to Forbes, it is considered one of the Largest Public Companies in the World.
