       Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. is a dredging contractor and marine services provider headquartered in Papendrecht, Netherlands. Its services include the construction and maintenance of ports and waterways, land reclamation, coastal defense, and riverbank protection.

       The company also offers maritime services and contracting to the offshore energy sector, including the development, construction, transport, installation, inspection, repair & maintenance (IRM) and decommissioning of oil and LNG import/export facilities, offshore platforms, pipelines and cables and offshore wind farms.

       In addition, it also provides towage services, emergency response and salvage through SMIT and their joint venture in terminal services Smit Lamnalco.

    HISTORY


       Royal Boskalis was established in 1910 by a group of families in Sliedrecht.

       In 1933, Westminster Dredging Company was established in London, United Kingdom.

       In 1953, Boskalis played a major role in the Delta Works project, one of the 7 Wonders of the Modern World.

       In 1971, Boskalis went public.

       In 1985, Breejenbout was acquired.

       In 1988, Zanen Verstoep was acquired.

       In 2010, the company acquired the maritime services provider SMIT Internationale.

       In 2013, Boskalis acquired the heavy marine transport company Dockwise.

       In 2014, the company acquired Fairmount Marine, a provider of long-distance ocean towage services.

       In 2016, Boskalis acquired the dredging activities and assets of STRABAG Wasserbau.

       In July 2016, the offshore cable-laying company VBMS became a subsidiary of Boskalis

       In 2017, the company acquired Gardline Group (Gardline), which engaged in marine geophysical surveys, offshore geotechnical services, and environmental surveys.

       In 2019, the company acquired the majority stake in the Horizon Group (Horizon), which engaged in marine geophysical surveys and geotechnical services.

       In 2021, Boskalis acquired Rever Offshore’s subsea services business (formally known as Bibby Offshore).


       The company operates in 90 countries and across six continents, with a versatile fleet of more than 600 vessels and floating equipment.

       With more than 10,000 employees and operations in over 90 countries across six continents, Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V.  is considered one of the largest global dredging contractors and marine services providers. According to Forbes, it is considered one of the Largest Public Companies in the World.
