Southwest Airlines was established in 1967 as Air Southwest Co. by Herb Kelleher and Rollin King.
In 1971, Air Southwest Co. changed its name to Southwest Airlines Co. (Southwest).
In 1975, Southwest stock was listed on the American Stock Exchange.
In 1977, Southwest stock was listed for trading on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
