HISTORY
Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation (Yang Ming) was established in 1972.
In 1979, a new Asia/U.S. West Coast full-container liner service was launched.
In 1980, the Far East / America liner service was inaugurated.
In 1981, a new Asia/Mediterranean full-container liner service was launched.
In 1982-1983, an extension to North Europe was added to the Mediterranean- bound liner service, and the Far East / Europe full container liner service was also inaugurated.
In 1986-1987, the Far East /Australia and Far East / Northeast Asia liner services were inaugurated.
In 1988, a liner service linking the Indian Ocean, the Persian Gulf, the Far East, the U.S.A., and Europe was inaugurated.
In 1992, the YANG MING shares were listed on the Stock Exchange in Taiwan, R.O.C.
In 1994, a collaboration with CMA of France and NYK of Japan had been agreed upon in order to extend a joint liner service between the Far East and the Mediterranean Sea, with an increase of direct calling ports such as: Barcelona of Spain, Fos of France and Nagoya of Japan in the Far East.
In 1995, the China Merchants Steam Navigation Co., Ltd. of Taiwan, R.O.C. merged with YANG MING.
In 1996, the joint service with K-Line of Japan on both the Far East / North Europe and the Far East /U.S. Pacific Coast routes officially started.
In 1998, a new liner service route between North Europe and East Mediterranean (NMX Service) was inaugurated.
In 1999, YANG MING established its subsidiary company, YES Logistics Corp. to offer logistics services.
In 2000, YANG MING established subsidiary companies in Singapore and Malaysia.
In 2003, Yang Ming (America) Corporation was established.
In 2004, the company set up Yang Ming (Netherlands) to develop its regional business in Europe.
In 2008, YANG MING transferred the bulk business to its subsidiary, Kuang Ming Shipping Corp.
In 2010, Yang Ming (U.A.E) L.L.C. and Yang Ming Shipping (Egypt) S.A.E. were established.
In 2011, Kao Ming Container Terminal (KMCT), a subsidiary of the Yang Ming, was inaugurated.
In 2015, YES Logistics Corporation, a subsidiary of Yang Ming group, merged with ECU Line Company.
In 2016, Yang Ming (Russia) LLC and Yang Ming (Spain), S.L. were established.
In 2017, the company established subsidiaries in Philippines and Thailand.
In 2018, PT Formosa Sejati Logistics, a joint venture between Yang Ming and Taiwan International Ports Corporation, Ltd. (TIPC) and Indonesian investors, officially opened in Indonesia.
In 2019, the new subsidiary Huan Ming (Shanghai) International Shipping Agency Co. was established to act as Yang Ming’s general agent in China.
In 2020, Yang Ming cooperated with TAIWAN FOUNDATION INTERNATIONAL PTE. LTD. and Malaysian investors to set up a joint venture depot company named Jambatan Merah Formosa Depot Sdn. Bhd at Port Klang, Malaysia, providing container maintenance and repair services.
In 2021, the company set up a new subsidiary in France named Yang Ming (France) S.A.S.
In 2021, Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation merged Ching Ming Investment Corporation, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Yang Ming.

TERMINAL SERVICE
Yang Ming has invested in terminals at Kaohsiung and Taipei Harbors in Taiwan, Los Angeles in the United States, and Antwerp in Belgium. Its affiliated company, Kao Ming Container Terminal Corp., has invested in a terminal at Kaohsiung Harbor that became Yang Ming’s transshipment hub in the Far East.

Besides, YES has set up offices in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Zhongshan, Xiamen, Ningbo, Tianjin, Wuhan, Hefei in China and in Hong Kong. It also maintains offices in Bangkok, Los Angeles, Hamburg, Rotterdam, and Denmark as well as an agency network around the world.
Yang Ming has also established trucking companies in Taiwan, the UK, USA, and China.
