HISTORY
TRATON was founded in 2015 when Volkswagen AG created Volkswagen Truck & Bus GmbH to bundle its brands Scania, MAN and Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus.
In 2016, the digital brand RIO was added to the Group.
In 2017, Volkswagen Truck & Bus GmbH acquired 16.6% of the shares of Navistar Inc.
In 2018, Volkswagen Truck & Bus GmbH and Hino Motors Ltd. agreed to enter into a strategic partnership.
In 2018, Volkswagen Truck & Bus became TRATON GROUP.
In 2021, Traton completed the acquisition of Navistar.
In 2022, Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus changed its corporate name to Volkswagen Truck and Bus, one of its parent’s former names.
In 2022, TRATON GROUP, Daimler Truck and Volvo Group established a joint venture for the development of charging infrastructure in Europe.
