       TRATON SE (TRATON GROUP) is one of the world’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturers with its Scania, MAN, Volkswagen Truck & Bus, Navistar and RIO brands. It is headquartered in Munich, Germany, and is a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group.

       The group’s portfolio includes light commercial vehicles, trucks and buses.


    • Scania – is one of the world’s largest providers of transport solutions, with production in Europe, South America, and Asia. It offers city buses, intercity and travel coaches, heavy-duty vehicles for long-distance and distribution transport, as well as construction vehicles.
    • MAN – is one of Europe’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturers, with production in Europe, South Africa, and Turkey. It builds vans, light- to heavy-duty trucks for distributors, long-distance vans, and construction vehicles, as well as city buses and intercity and travel coaches.
    • Volkswagen Truck & Bus – is a provider of light- to heavy-duty trucks and bus chassis—customized for markets such as Latin America and Africa.
    • Navistar – is a holding company that provides commercial trucks, proprietary diesel engines, and IC Bus® brand school and commercial buses through its subsidiaries and affiliates. It also provides truck and diesel engine service parts.
    • RIO – is a provider of digital services in the transport industry.
    • TRATON FINANCIAL SERVICES – is a multi-brand captive finance provider.
    • TRATON Charging Solutions – offers contracting, invoicing, route planning, and utilization insights.


       TRATON was founded in 2015 when Volkswagen AG created Volkswagen Truck & Bus GmbH to bundle its brands Scania, MAN and Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus.

       In 2016, the digital brand RIO was added to the Group.

       In 2017, Volkswagen Truck & Bus GmbH acquired 16.6% of the shares of Navistar Inc.

       In 2018, Volkswagen Truck & Bus GmbH and Hino Motors Ltd. agreed to enter into a strategic partnership.

       In 2018, Volkswagen Truck & Bus became TRATON GROUP.

       In 2021, Traton completed the acquisition of Navistar.

       In 2022, Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus changed its corporate name to Volkswagen Truck and Bus, one of its parent’s former names.

       In 2022, TRATON GROUP, Daimler Truck and Volvo Group established a joint venture for the development of charging infrastructure in Europe.
