       LafargeHolcim Ltd. is a Swiss multinational manufacturer of building materials. It was formed on 10 July 2015 by the merger of Lafarge and Holcim.

    Lafarge S.A.

       Lafarge was a French industrial company specialized in three major products: cement, construction aggregates, and concrete. It was founded in 1833 by Joseph-Auguste Pavin de Lafarge, who began regular extraction operations in the limestone quarries in Le Teil (Ardèche, France).

    Holcim Ltd.

       Holcim was a Swiss-based global building materials and aggregates company. It was founded with the opening of a cement plant in Holderbank (Switzerland) by Adolf Gygi in 1912.


       The company operates through the following four business segments: Cement, Aggregates, Ready-Mix Concrete and Solutions & Products.

    Cement

       The Cement segment provides high early strength cements, consistent highly technical oil well cements, enhanced environmental performance with low CO2 cements, strong and cost-effective road binders, as well as other value-added specialty cements such as masonry cements.

    Aggregates

       The Aggregates is mainly consisting of crushed stone, gravel, and sand, as well as recycled concrete and secondary aggregates from other industrial waste, such as mining waste, slag, and ash.

    Ready-Mix Concrete

       The Ready-Mix Concrete segment provides an innovative range of ready-mix, prefabricated concrete solutions and services, designed to meet the buildings and infrastructure challenges, such as: CO2 footprint reduction and energy efficiency of buildings, costs and speed of construction and worksite productivity, as well as architectural and aesthetic visual impact.

    Solutions & Products

       The Solutions & Products segment includes precast concrete, asphalt, dry mortar, Airium, Ductal, Durabric, and other building solutions.


       With more than 72 000 employees, LafargeHolcim Ltd. has a presence in around 70 countries and it is considered one of the largest companies in the building materials sector. According to Forbes, it is considered one of the top 2000 largest public companies in the world.
