       LG Display Co., Ltd. is an electronics company headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. It operates through the following business sectors: TV display, Commercial display, IT display, Mobile display, and Automotive display.

       It is one of the main licensed manufacturers of the more color-accurate IPS panels used by DellNECASUSApple (including iMacs, iPads, iPhones, iPod touches) and others, which were developed by Hitachi.

    HISTORY

       LG Display was originally formed as LG.Philips LCD, a joint venture created by the Korean electronics company LG Electronics and the Dutch company Koninklijke Philips Electronics in 1999 to manufacture active matrix liquid crystal displays (LCDs).

       In 2004, the company became an independent company and it was listed on the New York Stock Exchange and on the South Korean Stock Exchange.

       In 2008, LG.Philips LCD changed its corporate name to LG Display, after Philips sold off all its shares.


       With more than 30,000 employees, LG Display Co., Ltd. is considered one of the largest manufacturers and suppliers of thin-film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) panels, OLEDs and flexible displays in the world. According to Forbes, it is considered one of the Largest Public Companies in the World.
